Is that a Flare I see?
No it's Venus (I'm quoted). To be fair, down by the sea flares are a serious matter, and one going off can mean someone in distress or the local yobbos having a lark, so it's better to be safe than sorry. The Advertiser article on the Planet Dance is here, in the actual paper version there was a nice photo of my telescope.
