
Sunspot 875 is decaying, although it has fired off the occasional C class flare. Still it is big enough to sees with safe solar
projection techniques (see how I set up
here). You can even see it as a small dot on the sun with solar film "eclipse" galsses. The image here was taken with my web cam under less than ideal conditions (wind, an clouds passing over the Sun just as I would get a shot lined up), but while not high quality, it's not the blurry mess I expected, but there is some degree of structure. 875 still might fire off an M class flare big enough to trigger aurora, but I wouldn't hold my breath.
