More Lunar Eclipse Images (October 8, 2014)
Eclipsed Moon over trees, 1x15 second exposure with Pentax DSLR at 1600 ASA scaled to 800x600 | Crop at original scale showing Moon and trailed stars. |
More images from the Lunar eclipse. In between imaging on the telescope, just watching the eclipse, getting the boys to come out and cleaning the oven, I fired off a couple of shots with the Pentax DSLR. I used a 15 minute exposure, should have used a shorter exposure to stop smearing (or mounted it on the 8" scope with time drive) but my main focus was on the telescope imaging (and actually enjoying the eclipse). This time I took a dark frame, but it doesn't seem to have fixed the noise issue.
Still, it is rather atmospheric.
Here's an image of Scorpius taken during the maximum eclipse, same conditions as above (and with dark frame subtraction).
