Southern Skywatch November 2011 Edition Up
Evening sky looking west as seen from Adelaide at 8:30 pm local daylight saving time on Thursday November 10 showing the Mercury, Venus and the bright star Antares lined up. Venus is prominent in the evening sky and for the first two weeks is close to Mercury. Mercury and Venus enter the head of the Scorpion on the 4th, and are close to Antares on the 10th. Mercury is lose to the crescent Moon on the 26th and Venus is close to the crescent Moon on the 27th.
Mars comes close to the bright star Regulus and is close to the Moon on the 19th. Jupiter is prominent in the evening sky, and is now a good telescopic object.
Saturn returns to the morning sky and is close to the Moon on the 23rd.
The variable star Mira is now bright.
The Leonid meteor shower is on the morning ot the 19th.
